How To Get Affordable Art
I was thinking this the other day. Just as I was lifting one of my beautiful pieces of abstract artwork onto the picture hook. I’m lucky that I have an ever changing supply of wall decor, I also have a variety of colours to choose from. I actually have no excuse for bare walls in my home. How about you? Have you been waiting to find that perfect piece?
Whether it’s large or small you will probably see it everyday, so you want to find a painting that makes you feel good and you enjoy sharing your space with.
When it comes to buying art it's just like a relationship. If you find a piece you love, and identify with what it represents, then you’ll want to have it in your life. Owning the right painting can lift your mood, change your wellbeing and boost your self-esteem. Art can be a source of inspiration and motivation, it’s not merely an interior decor statement.
One of the main reasons someone holds back from purchasing is the price.💰
Buying art is a financial commitment, but you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to have an eye catching creative piece in your home. There are many different ways of purchasing affordable art, read on for a few! 😃
- Start small, who says you have to a 3ft painting? Ok it looks good above a sofa, or bed, but so can a ‘gallery wall’ of well placed smaller pieces. The added beauty of small deep-edged canvases is they don’t even need putting on the wall, but sit happily on a piano or shelf. Plus moving your room around and changing it’s look has never been simpler!
- Prints of the original artwork that you could only dream of hanging in your home is one way to go. They are also a way of expressing your interest in an artist without shelling out hundreds/thousands of pounds.
- Find an emerging artist whose style, inspiration and use of colour connects with you. Their range of work is likely to be more affordable, take a look through their website and see if something resonates. And building a relationship as a collector in the early stages of their career would give you the chance to see them grow as an artist. Think how exciting it would be to follow on their journey and be able to say you have one of their first pieces of work!
- Be direct and write to the artist, be honest, build up a rapport. There’s nothing wrong with sending a note via social media or the ‘Contact Us’ page of their website. Tell them your budget and what pieces have spoken to you, and you’ll be surprised how many responses are positive. Many artists will have smaller ‘studies’ or pieces of work from previous years that they’d be willing to sell. But remember they have priced their work for a reason, quality paints and canvases cost, and that’s before adding their time and studio overheads.
- And don't forget to sign up to their website, many artists have online offers, mine are; 20% off your first purchase NEW20, subscribe with more detail and get a birthday bonus, plus I'm still running ASPEN10 - buy 2 items and get 10% off everything.
Be bold, be brave, let the decorative items in your home reflect your personality by adding extra pops of colour and interest. Be the envy of your friends. Let your artwork become the envy of others.
Remember art is a long term investment, it’s very possible that its value could rise, how exciting is that!?
And as you’ll be able to take it with you to future properties it is beginning to sound like a pretty good investment.
Who knew that your painting could do so much? Owning a piece of art that speaks to you can be a meaningful way of promoting mental health and enhancing your overall quality of life and spreading a little happiness.💜
