Artist statement:

“My art is an exploration of emotion, memory, and the invisible rhythms of the mind.

Living with epilepsy shapes how I experience the world - moments of stillness interrupted by sudden outbursts of electrical energy - and that unpredictability finds its way onto every canvas.

Through layers of colour and texture, I aim to capture both fragility and strength, revealing how beauty can emerge from disruption.  Painting began during a hospital stay and became a language of its own - one that allows me to express what words cannot.

Each piece, as I like to say, is done in 'fits and starts - quite literally'. That phrase defines not only my process, but also my determination to turn a daily challenge into creativity, and to give back through my art. - Annette Aspen
